Eliminate the Whisper.
End the Epidemic.
Families, Allies, & Survivors.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Save lives, restore families, and strengthen communities.
AARA will do for addiction what the Susan G. Komen Foundation has done for breast cancer: shatter the stigma and show America that recovery is real.
OUR Vision
Stop the stigma, save lives, and end the epidemic.
We know the disease of addiction can happen to anyone and has touched or impacted everyone in some way. Yet, there is still a harmful stigma that follows it. When addiction is mentioned, people lower their voices, hesitate, or even try to avoid it completely. We exist to do the opposite. We do not do anything quietly and are not afraid of speaking up.
We are here to stop the stigma and bring awareness to a disease that is quietly but drastically impacting so many. We know recovery is real and everyone needs to hear that. We are unifying an army to ignite awareness and amplify the voices of families and survivors who have been deeply affected by this disease.
Through these collective voices, we will gain greater public awareness and influence policies in legislation, businesses, communities, and more that promote recovery and remove the stigma. We are fighting to retell our story.
OUR APPROACH
We are the voice of help and hope, driving recovery forward and eliminating the whisper.
AARA is your trusted leader in improving the lives of individuals and their families impacted by addiction, overdose, and mental health. We support efforts to empower people to live their lives to the fullest in recovery and without the shame and fear associated with stigma.

About Scott Cochran
Scott Cochran is an American football coach who most recently served as the special teams coordinator and strength and conditioning coach for the Georgia Bulldogs. He has won eight national championships throughout his coaching career. He also worked in the NBA as an assistant strength coach for the New Orleans Hornets.
Scott is incredibly supportive of the recovery community and wants to be a part of increasing the numbers of the 29 million Americans in recovery and decreasing the number of Americans in active addiction. Scott recognizes this disease, which is the number one killer of Americans 18-45, impacts not only the person in active addiction, but their family, friends, and co-workers.
Scott gives credit to his wife who helped win the family’s first UGA National Championship as an incredible swimmer in 2000. Scott reminds everyone this championship laid the groundwork for future national championships, which came after marriage, a couple of moves, and a few children. Scott and their children cheer his wife on as she continues to compete in swimming at the US
Masters level.
Just as Scott made the difference in the lives of the football players under his guidance, he wants to make a difference in the lives of everyone impacted by addiction and substance use disorder. Scott says there will be a lot less yelling for this issue than he uses on the field, but the passion will be stronger.
